Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 3, 2026

1. Overview

MuscleScreen ("the App") is designed with privacy at its core. We believe your fitness data, screen habits, and personal information belong to you and only you. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App accesses, how it is used, and, most importantly, what we do not collect.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

MuscleScreen does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers. Specifically:

  • No camera footage: All pose detection for exercise verification happens entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. No images, video frames, or skeletal data are recorded, stored, or sent anywhere.
  • No app usage data: The App uses Apple's Screen Time API to block and unblock apps you choose. We cannot see which apps you use, how long you use them, or any other Screen Time data.
  • No analytics or tracking: MuscleScreen does not include any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking pixels.
  • No account required: You do not need to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in to use MuscleScreen.
  • No network requests: MuscleScreen V1 operates entirely offline. The App makes no network requests and does not communicate with any server.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

MuscleScreen stores the following data locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework:

  • User Profile: Your chosen avatar character, display name, streak count, lifetime reps, and activity dates.
  • Workout Sessions: Date, exercise type, reps completed, reps required, verification status, and screen minutes earned for each session.
  • Screen Usage Records: Locally tracked records of app blocking and unlocking events.

All of this data is stored in an App Group container (group.com.musclescreen.shared) to allow the main app and its extensions to communicate. This data never leaves your device.

4. Device Permissions

MuscleScreen requests the following permissions, each for a specific purpose:

  • Family Controls (Screen Time API): Required to block and unblock apps you select. This permission is managed through Apple's authorization flow. MuscleScreen cannot access Screen Time reports or usage statistics.
  • Camera: Used exclusively for real-time pose detection during exercise challenges. The camera feed is processed on-device and is never recorded or stored.
  • Notifications: Used to send local reminders about daily challenges. Notifications are generated on-device and do not involve any external push notification service.

5. Data Sharing

We do not share any data with third parties. There is no data to share. All information stays on your device.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

All data is stored locally on your device. You can delete all MuscleScreen data at any time by:

  • Deleting the App from your device, which permanently removes all associated data.
  • Using the App's settings to reset your profile and workout history.

7. Children's Privacy

MuscleScreen is suitable for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since the App does not collect any personal data at all, there is no children's data to protect beyond what Apple's platform already provides.

8. Security

Because MuscleScreen stores all data locally and makes no network requests, the attack surface is minimal. Your data is protected by your device's built-in security (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID) and Apple's app sandboxing. The App Group container used for extension communication is encrypted at rest by iOS.

9. Future Changes

If a future version of MuscleScreen introduces online features (such as leaderboards, cloud sync, or social features), this Privacy Policy will be updated before those features are released. Any features that involve network communication or data collection will require explicit opt-in consent.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
